The extraction of key materials for battery production from recycled materials offers many advantages in terms of raw material independence and reduction of CO2 emissions. With our high-quality secondary raw materials from sustainable recycling processes, we aim to offer battery manufacturers a locally available resource with highest recycling efficiency.
Secondary raw materials recovered in Germany for the production of new lithium batteries can help reduce dependence on international suppliers of the scarce raw material resources worldwide. And the carbon footprint of German and European battery production can also be reduced.
However, Re.Lion.Bat. goes one decisive step further in the realization of its sustainable recycling concept: We are planning the infrastructure of our site for the recycling of lithium-ion batteries from scratch and are running our system on green electricity from local solar and wind energy – without using any fossil energy sources. This carbon-neutral approach increases our recycling efficiency to over 96% and further reduces the carbon footprint of batteries made from our raw materials. With our sustainable offer, we are closing a supply gap in a dynamic future market, especially for the planned increase in capacities of European manufacturers of energy storage systems for electric vehicles.
Before recycling, we check the batteries we receive for the possibility of second-life use: Depending on their capacity and power reserves, batteries that can no longer be used in electric vehicles are suitable as buffer storage for houses or in the mobile charging stations segment.
With our holistic approach to recycling lithium-ion batteries, we are making an important contribution to the energy revolution.
